Going Green
- 1st Pricing Enhances
BIM Plug-in for CAD Programs
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
June 2,
2009: Signal Hill,
Calif.
– 1st Pricing, a Southern California-based eCommerce and
Technology Company, announced that they have upgraded and
enhanced the plug-in that links their patented revolutionary BIM
technology to AutoCAD® Architecture and various other CAD
programs. This plug-in allows architects and other designers to
utilize libraries that contain real-world, commercially
available products."The new format permits 1st
Pricing to deliver product related data to the CAD desktop. The
most exciting new feature is that the plug-in can highlight
“Green” or “Energy Star” rated materials to promote sustainable
building practices. In addition to pricing, the plug-in also
allows product manufacturers to be specified directly on the
plans themselves the 1st Pricing
technology is unique in the Building Information Modeling (BIM)
world and is the premier technology in the 5D (supply chain)
world of BIM,” said Douglas Lopez, Founder of 1st Pricing.
Lopez, who is also a building material
distributor and General Contractor says, “We can now deliver an
enormous amount of critical information about all kinds of plan
elements that are used in the design.” The plug-in can stipulate
commercially available products so an architect or building
owner can have precision choices of materials. To close the
supply chain loop, it possesses integrated, on-line procurement
capabilities for error-free purchasing from a local supplier.
“With the new format there isn’t any information that we can’t
bring back to the architect.” Lopez continues, “Essentially, you
can pass around an automatically generated bill of materials,
complete with comparative, line-item pricing for real-world
products through the entire supply chain process without ever
having to re-type the data while at the same time virtually
eliminating errors.” At its core, it is a search engine for CAD.
With the click of a button, the 1st Pricing
technology accesses an internet portal and pulls comparison
pricing of multiple brands to fill out a detailed bill of
materials with all related content on demand. An online shopping
cart is also automatically created for easy fulfillment from a
local material distributor based on the project zip code.
Changes and updates are made within seconds so that everyone is
on the same page. Today, the Company is focused on building
materials for residential construction but plans to add
commercial building products in the near future. In the CAD
industry, the supply chain component is often referred to as the
“fifth dimension of CAD” or 5D.
“Our technology transforms a set of plans from an
interpretive document to a declarative statement,” adds Lopez.
“By adding multiple brand solutions from local suppliers to
precise architectural specifications, we are empowering the
homeowner and their contractor with a number of fulfillment
choices complete with delivered-to-the-jobsite pricing.”
