1ST Pricing Announces Cooperation With
Graphisoft - Will Preview at AIA 2005
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
MAY 17, 2005: Signal Hill, Calif. - 1ST Pricing™, a Southern California-based technology company providing practical solutions to the building industry, has announced that Graphisoft North America will adopt the 1ST Pricing technology to provide real-time pricing for specified building materials in a design. The 1ST
Pricing-Graphisoft add-on technology will be previewed at AIA 2005 this week in Las Vegas - a national trade show for members of the American Institute for Architects.
Graphisoft, based in Newton, Mass., is the creator of ArchiCAD® and the Virtual
Building™ approach to great building design. The pricing engine from 1ST Pricing will provide real-time, comparative pricing from many real manufacturers combined with an online fulfillment capability to support it. Selected for commercial, retail, home and educational projects of all sizes, ArchiCAD is one of the most widely used architectural computer aided design programs (CAD) in the home building industry.
"We've been reading plans for years, but no technology has ever been able to take full advantage of the information contained in the architect's computer," said Douglas Lopez, President and founder of 1ST Pricing, Inc. "Now this $3.9 trillion industry has a search engine that takes a set of plans, hits a retailer database, and returns multiple brands and real prices in one simple mouse click."
"We are excited to incorporate the 1ST Pricing technology into ArchiCAD," said Donald
Henrich, General Manager and Vice President of Graphisoft North America. "1ST Pricing addresses an important part of building information modeling and is the only company that provides real-time comparative pricing for building materials specified in a CAD design. With a click of a mouse, its pricing engine pulls deliver-to-the-jobsite pricing in only a few seconds."
Building information modeling (BIM) is a revolutionary tool in the architectural CAD industry but, until now, hasn't been taken to its logical conclusion - pricing and fulfillment. When an architect designs a set of plans, traditional BIM-enabled CAD software captures the details of various objects in the plans such as a windows and doors. 1ST Pricing's software not only contains the information, but also provides real-time, comparative, zip-code-based pricing for each item and, ultimately, creates an electronic bill of materials that saves time and money while greatly reducing error.
In addition to assisting architects and other plan designers build and price a bill of materials, the detailed materials are reviewable online for everyone involved in the building process. The contractor or homeowner can actually select and order the product online and have it delivered directly to the jobsite.
"Our goal is to simplify the process of building a home," says Lopez. "The combination of Graphisoft's leadership in the BIM environment and 1ST Pricing's technology brings order and precision to a chaotic process and is an incredible time-saver for architects, contractors and homeowners. A process that used to involve multiple parties and take several weeks with dozens of wasted man-hours can now be completed with a couple clicks of a mouse."
