1ST Pricing -
Technology for the Building Industry

technology supercharges Architectural Computer Aided Design (CAD)
software and improves the building process for all involved.
Here’s how it works: The architect or designer draws plans using
“smart” symbols – smart symbols are attached to a data warehouse
that stores the physical parameters or attributes of each symbol
as specified by the architect. Sometimes the software companies
provide these symbols and sometimes 1ST Pricing provides them.
Regardless, we then run with that database to provide real-time
comparative pricing for many line items. Essentially, we create a
bill of materials including delivered-to-the-jobsite pricing for
up to five different brands that represent the good, better and
best solutions that meet the architect’s specifications.
Now if we
stopped there, the benefits for everyone are monumental. Instead,
we have made that information available online to everyone
involved in the building project. Imagine sharing construction
documents as easily as sending an email! You can even order the
product online and have it delivered directly to your jobsite.
This is the first system ever built to ensure that what the
architect designs is what gets built.
The CAD industry is
working feverishly toward a new design model with many different
names - PEN (Parametric-ENabled), BIM (Building Information
Modeling), Virtual Building, Building Lifecycle Management,
Building Simulation, even 3D (versus 2D). What ever you want to
call it, the benefits are real. The only problem is that they stop
too soon in the process. 1ST Pricing takes it the rest of the way.
